a quilt for my Mom

I made my Mother a small lap quilt for Christmas this year.
After her father passed away we had his bathrobe hanging in the closet for several years.
I used the flannel bathrobe and some red, yellow and white flannel.
I used a sketch that she had made of him in the 80s as a pattern and emroidered it in red thread.
It has been getting used alot so you'll have to excuse the wrinkles!

Superbad

My favorite scene in Superbad is the opening credits where the silhouettes dance.
As soon as I saw it I wanted to make freezer paper stencils silhouettes.
I traced it right off the screen and then blew the image up with the copy machine.
I made and gave four of these sweatshirts for Christmas and they were well recieved!

a quilt for me

I fell in love with this Alexander Henry fruity print but didn't know exactly what to do with it.
After it sat in my stash for a while I decided I wanted to make a quilt with it.
The patchwork design was just sort of made up as I went along.
The first two are before it had been quilted and the last one is it all finished.
I had the quilting done proffesionally by someone with all the proper equipment.

Library Bags

A little something I've been working on.
I love the library and I can't remember a time when I didn't.
I grew up within walking distance of my local library and would walk home with my arms full of books.
My son loves the library too and so do some of our little friends so I've been making these bags.
Just a simple tote with a pocket for your library card and a pocket to hold your money for fines.

pa-jam-a-nas

My little man was in need of some pajamas.
He prefers 100% cotton pj's so I make him a bunch of bottoms and pair them with a cotton tee.
Nice comfy pajamas.

Hot Fuzz-tival

I had a little dinner party to commemorate the DVD release of Hot Fuzz
and I made a fun hostess apron for myself.
I used vintage linens to create the applique.

Barter

I traded a friend a custom made tote for her to give as a gift in exchange for some of her computer savvy help.
She wanted a brown and blue tote for a friend to use to carry her children's things around.
She wanted something that looked more grown up than what she could find in the store.
I lined the bag with heavy duty canvas to make it as sturdy as possible.

Custom Stockings

I had a custom order for 6 stockings.
The customer wanted a more traditional look.
I used the same random patchwork style with purchased christmas fabric.

Simplicity 3835 (take 2)

My lemon shirt is so comfy I decided to make another shirt from the same pattern.
I used the leftover vintage linens from my nappy bag. This one ended up being a little "patchwork-y" for my taste but it will get worn simply because it is comfortable.

Simplicity 3738

A cute summer top for myself.
The olive green is Robert Kaufman Kona Cotton and the blue floral is a cotton vintage print I picked up at a flea market.

Simplicity 3835

I loved making this shirt and I love wearing it.
Super simple pattern and a nice airy summer top.
I did lengthen the pattern because otherwise it was pretty boxy.

Pirate Party

I began a tradition of making my son a shirt to wear at his birthday party.
This year we are celebrating with a Pirate Party!
I used a store bought shirt and made the applique using skull and crossbones print fabric.

Keeping in pirate theme.
I also made a skirt/swimsuit coverup for myself to wear at the splash park where we are having it.

Nappy Bag 12

I had a custom order for a nappy bag with killer whales.
I used vintage linens for the bag, polka dot fabric from my stash for the whale applique, a super soft terrycloth for the changing pad and for the closure I used a vintage ribbon and vintage button.

Green

An all purpose tote for a friend who loves green.
I repurposed a vintage pillow case, second hand trims and vintage buttons.
